Gala odbyła się w MGM Grand Garden Arena w Las Vegas w stanie Nevada i była transmitowana w telewizji ABC. Najwięcej nominacji otrzymali w tym roku Lorde oraz zespół Imagine Dragons, bo aż po dwanaście. Jedną mniej otrzymał Justin Timberlake, nominowany między innymi w kategorii Najlepszy Artysta czy Najlepszy Album.
