Recording Academy ogłosiło właśnie listę nominacji 68. gali Grammy Awards. Kendrick Lamar miażdży konkurencję zbierając aż dziewięć nominacji. Tuż za nim wielką nominowaną jest również Lady Gaga, która powalczy w siedmiu kategoriach. Podium zamyka Sabrina Carpenter oraz Bad Bunny z ilością sześciu nominacji.
Kendrick Lamar oraz Lady Gaga powalczą w najważniejszych kategoriach takich jak album roku za krążki GNX oraz MAYHEM, czy też nagranie roku i piosenka roku za utwory luther(nagrany we współpracy z SZA) oraz Abracadabra. To właśnie oni są typowani za głównych zwycięzców nadchodzącej gali. Kendrick już w tamtym roku zgarnął pięć statuetek, dzięki wielkiemu przebojowi Not Like Us. Za czarnego konia uważa się portorykańskiego piosenkarza Bad Bunny’ego oraz Billie Eilish, której utwór Wildflower może namieszać. Na nominację mogli liczyć również powracający w tym roku wielcy artyści tacy jak Justin Bieber, czy Miley Cyrus. W piosence roku powalczy nawet k-popowy utwór Golden, który pochodzi z filmu KPop Demon Hunters i szturmem opanował światowe listy streamingowe. Głośnym echem w internecie odbił się także brak nominacji dla The Weeknd, który na tegorocznej gali został przeproszony przez akademię Grammy za ignorowanie go przez lata w głównych kategoriach gali. Mimo wydania w tym roku albumu Hurry Up Tomorrow, artysta nie otrzymał ponownie żadnej nominacji. Wśród tegorocznych debiutantów znaleźli się natomiast Addison Rae, sombr, Alex Warren, Lola Young, Olivia Dean, KATSAYE oraz Leon Thomasi The Marias.
